Good.
An excellent example of how you take a simple concept and make it into a great game. Well done. I especially liked all the different power ups, and the sound effects during them.

Well scripted.
Unfortunately, it seems like once you put out a working engine, you didn't even pay attention to whether the thing actually worked intuitively. The acceleration is way off, and when I make it slope up a sharp amount he just goes up the entire thing. That's a bit of a problem, but you still have a good game idea. The other annoying problem is that it erases your map every time you mess up. That was just a poor decision. I know it makes it harder but that is just frustratingly difficult.
Very fun game.
Excellent combination of two different game styles. I loved it. It never got boring, which is really impressive.
Good game.
Good stuff. I love 8bitness. You already mentioned the overabundance of dialog, so I won't harass you too much for that, although honestly you could have covered what took 5 minutes in 2.
I knocked you a point or 2 down for this:
"it means that you're an inept player, whether you're too arrogant to accept that or not." (found in the Author Comments)
That sort of attitude is flawed and presumptuous. First of all, if 99.9% of people can't beat a boss without practicing on monsters for an hour beforehand, thats your fault, not the gamers. Sometimes you need to tailor to more people than yourself.
Other than that, woot. I couldn't figure out how to use potions though. Do you HAVE to get into a fight in order to use items? I didn't see any sort of tutorial on how to do this.
It passed!!!!!!!!!
With a 2.28! Woot!
Next time I need to show you how to compress your audio and some stuff... hm...
What a great game!
I only docked points cause the replay factor is lame.

I've been thinking of making something of this style for a long time. Darn can't believe you beat me to it, and not only that, but its extremely well scripted with clean graphics and good music. However I think this mighta got downrated because all of the characters are shapes. Still really well done.
I think using shapes for characters was a big risk, and it sure does have result my game to have a lower score. But I didn't get lots of complain about that and people seem to have enjoy my game and thats what is important for me.
Thanks for your review.
Hmm, not sure what to say about this.
I sure hope you are the same guy who made Desktop Tower Defense (google it, they wont let me put URLs here)
Because if you aren't, you practically ripped everything except the graphics from his game.
Either way, Desktop was better because it showed you upcoming waves, and it had simpler interface and graphics, which actually improved gameplay. Plus it didn't force you to complete all the boring levels before getting somewhere interesting.
Vastly underrated.
My only complaint is that there is absolutely no strategy. Click click click. I win.
i always forget to respond to PMs. its not because i hate you, just because i forgot!!!
