That's a long time.

It is... it really is.

jeez we are all so old

;.; DON'T REMIND ME!

Jeez...10 years ago I was in first grade! XD That's a long time! You've clearly improved considerably since then too, so congratulations...and you're welcome! ;)

This made me realize I must have been in 5th or 6th grade when I wrote my first song. Wow, that was a long time ago.

Wow, 10 years!? I can't imagine what it's like to go on so long on NG, and the website was different back then.
For me it's been 4 months, and I have gone a LONG way, so I bet you must be feeling that WAY more.

Congrats on getting such a long experience!

Oh goodness, the tales I could tell. I remember when RageVI (now he's Rage, look him up) and ParagonX9 were still coming out with songs on a consistent schedule - so exciting! I actually remember listening to one of Wateflame's (then chainsaw09) first songs, -plingplong-, right when it came out, and thinking it was awesome.

I remember how there used to be discs images for each song (no custom image upload option), and if you got more than 500 downloads you'd get a gold disc. Then at 1000, platinum, and 2000 diamond. Those discs were the sign of truly great composers. It was kind of disappointing to see them go away, though of course downloading could be easily gamed.

One of the most interesting things I remember is that the techno section of the portal used to be a pretty fair place. There were only a couple thousand submissions in 2003/04, so the best stuff would naturally just rise to the top. There was still downvoting (heck it was probably worse) but for some reason the portal seemed more fair somehow. I remember releasing ".Aspirations." (pretty bad song, but much better than the other stuff I was doing at the time) and watching it sit on the top of the audio section for a few hours. I was the king of the world! There's no way to see something like that now, unfortunately.

Ah, good times.
