But I do like it a lot. The violin is a good carrying instrument for the melody. At first I was thinking that it didn't seem sad, but it sorta turned around into a sad song after a little bit. In fact, it was sad the whole time, it just wasn't an obvious sadness. When it fades out, then when it comes back in its obvious and its really nice, and sad. I guess the only thing I dislike about the song is just that it's so quiet. In fact, that should actually be a good point of the song, its just my own fault that I don't like it, so I bumped your overall from a 8 to a 9 because I don't like it as much as I think I should! :D
Anyways, keep on writing songs! I really like your stuff, keep me updated :D

I was trying to make it seem layed back, or relaxed. I did it like that on purpose. I think...
As for sounding sad, I almost never do that on purpose. My music just comes out that way. Anyway, Thanks. I'll definitely keep you updated. (Me likes the reviews)

Yeah, that was pretty good! You definitely got the creepy atmostphere down, you gotta teach me how to do that, all I can manage is sad :P
I totally agree with the first guy who said upgrade your drum samples. The kick for example didn't seem to go well at all, and the rest of it was only okay. Still, it didn't detract that much from the whole song. I really liked the creepiness. ^^
One thing that bothered me is that at times the piano got too loud and got a little distored. Maybe down the volume a little bit. Technically I'm being hipocritical since I do the exact same thing. But you could still benefit from it :D
Anyways good job here, it reminded me of some of my older stuff for some reason, although I'm not quite sure why. 9/10 and 5/5 ^^
Author's Response:
I didn't notice the piano distorting. Could it be your speakers? I'll turn it down anyway, if I ever update this song.
Thanks for the review...

5 TIPS FROM DARK OTAKU:
1. Lots of strings. Doing different things at the same time. Make most of them low, and quick-sounding. Then make one or two have a more simple pattern much higher.
2. Try writing music at different times of the day. My music sound most dramatic when I stay up after twelve'o'clock.
3. Try writing music in different rooms and places. Every room and place you go to, has a unique effect on your mood and personality. Experiment with different places, even if it's uncomfortable ~_^ , and find one that works best for you.
4. Write music when you're in different moods. My music turns out darker when I'm upset or angry.
5. This sounds weird, but try different lighting. Buy some colored lightbulbs, and experiment with what effects they have on your mood, and music overall.

"Wasn't bad at all for your first"
It started out and I was kinda iffy about it, because I think you had melodies on two different scales going at the same time. Definitely don't do that unless your doing something atonal, because it just doesn't sound good. That ssssssSSSSS noise started to annoy me after a while, I think it would have done your piece good to have gotten rid of it completely.
But at the end, at least I think it was the end because it loops, where you had just the violin and something weird and choppy in the background, that sounded pretty nice. So it was kinda worth the wait.
7/10 from me, but a 5/5 vote because you took a bash, a rather harsh one at that, from Kirizzle and weren't a noob about it. There needs to be more beginners like you :)

"I like it, it could be cool."
First of all, what is vox? I keep hearing about it, but I have no idea what it is.
Second, I like your song! It could definitely turn into a great full fledged tranceish thing, given enough time and work. I can't wait to hear the full thing :D
Third, it gets the fifen from me :D I'm feeling really generous today. (up to 3.8 woot)
Fourth, (I hate self promotion but there are so many 0 voters my stuff gets heard by no one) could you check out some of my stuff? Thanks ^^;
Author's Response:
Vox..i dont know exactly what the word means in itself, but it just means 'words', or 'lyrics' when its said.
If you liked this, you'll like the full version of Torn.
I have just finished making it a few minutes ago.
Be looking foreward to that, hm?
I'll drop you a review.
Thanks for the comments!

"Now to see who I just spam 5 voted ^^"
I read your post in the audio portal about how you got killed by some noob 0 rater, they seem to be swarming as of late, anyways, I felt bad and rated 5 on ALL of your stuff!
Anyways, I'd be cool if you could extend stuff like this more then a few seconds, but other than that, cool stuff here.
Also, could you check out my audio? Maybe vote 5? :D
Author's Response:
You are my new best friend. :)
Thanks a lot man -- I'm getting to work checking out, reviewing and fif'ing your stuff left and right. (The quality of your stuff makes it an easy five to begin with, even without the incentive!)
Thanks again dude!

YES!! This song owns! I don't even know what people like dimrain are doing on the top 50 (yes, I understand its a different section of the portal, WHO CARES?) when you've got music like this going. I mean seriously the only person I can really compare it to in terms of quality would be some of the people from deviantart.com, and they're like the 1337est of the 1337.
The chord progression, for one, is awesome. The vocals are also awesome, although honestly I can't understand half of them :P (Yes, I am hearing "I'm burning up" ... but thats about all ^^;) but that really doesn't detract anything.
The instruments, mainly just the synth, give the piece its awesome trancey feel, and as soon as that thing picks up at the beginning you know its gonna be a pwnage song. I also love how this song goes through so many different phases. From a 'no worry in the world' type thing at the beggining to a sader sound in part two, its all awesome.
Anyways, I can see what you were talking about when you said everyone said this is your best piece. Honestly I'm thinking that it would be impossible to top this one, at best tie its ownageness or hit its level in a different genre. Im also so thankful that you decided to make this song so long (was that even a decision, or did it just happen?) meaning that I wont get bored of listening to it for days.
By the way! Those straight tens you see up there ^ are somewhere equivelent between a mcPerfectBurger and a mcGodlyBurger... I'm not much of an audio critic but I've only given out two of them, ever, including this one.
... Unless I forgot about doing it sometime, which I doubt. ^^
Anyways, to sum it up in one word: AWESOME!!
Author's Response:
Wow. Not much to say except-
Pass the E and let's keep dancing! :D
(thanks for the McGodlyBurger!)

Sounded like a good hardrocking song ^^
I can't wait until the real one comes out, seems like it should be pretty good. Just borrow from ParagonX9s dnb with that cool melody you've got going there and there's no way you could go wrong!
Disclaimer:
I think.
But yeah. Just make sure to vary it a little bit, otherwise it could get boring.
By the way, could you check out my newest song if you have the time? It got 0 rated about a minute after I put it on the portal >.>
Thanks ^^
Author's Response:
Thnx for the rev John. I could use a good break, but Paragon's got Reason and I've got FL. So that's gonna be a problem :\
I shall listen and rate your song immediatly ;)

But its kinda dull. I mean, its just one instrument. I think when you do this again, try to seperate the melody into layers and then have seperate instruments play out seperate parts of the melody. For ex have maybe a flute play the higher notes, have base down at the bottom, and so on.
Also, get some drums or beat or something! The song sounds so lacking without them.
I haven't heard the original song so meh, but I hope this is helpful in further remixes/songs! Keep trying :D
And if you have time, check out some of my audio. Thanks ^^
Author's Response:
i didnt want to have many instruments going because it takes away from the beauty of the melodies... i might make another version with the chord harmonies on a different instrument.
If you are familiar with the songs, there's no need for any drums. Also i mean this to be a classical piece.
despite our differing views, thanks for your review!

"Not bad, but not O_O WOW!!"
I guess the 'not O_O WOW!!' is guarenteed by the name of the song, but still. Its not bad, it is kind of relaxing. One thing that bothers me is how the bassline has 3 notes, then it just sort of drops off. Kinda weird. Maybe it could do with a soft piano? It gets kinda repetitive after a little bit.
Keep trying! You have potential if you put in some better melodies.
By the way, would you mind rating/reviewing my newest song? It got 0 rated about 1 minute and 30 seconds after I put it up. Kinda harsh... >.>
Author's Response:
Yeah...I thought it sounded fine just the way it is... guess maybe the next time I'll add the piano and stuff.
Thanks for the review.

Wow, this song is great. I have to say if you wanted to leave with one song, this would be the one.
WAIT NO!
DONT LEAVE! You're without a doubt my favorite techno artist, everyone else on this site seems to be like stuck in generic techno (dimrain, saint isaah to a point, xstormer and so on), this music that you're making here really has thought and feel behind it. You have an excellent unique feel behind it, you know, the sad sorrowful tone that b still seems positive that you make excellent use of. I dunno how you do it, but I really like it.
I don't know if you're even gonna read this, but... I don't know. If there's some other website you're going to post your music or something, that would be awesome, if you're even going to continue making music. I don't know of music on NG will be as interesting without your stuff, but good luck wherever you go :)
